Somethings About Being A Breeder

Being A Breeder
Dog Opal Bred by us

If your dogs are part of the family, living with you,
you have to make
sacrifices. I choose not  have my dogs living outside in a kennel. We could leave them outside.
Other breeders do.
They see them as livestock and they can live
outside like cows and horses.  I choose to have my dogs
live with us. Our dogs are well socialized and that is
a high priority to us. Since it is, these are some
of the things

1. Forget having nice carpet
Dogs pee, poop and vomit, grown dogs and puppies.
We have reduced some of that by having a dog door.
I bought a carpet cleaner and use it often.
If we didn't have dogs living with us, we would just
hire someone to come and clean my carpets once a year.

2. Forget having nice furniture
Dogs like to chew. I always monitor my dogs, but furniture has still
been chewed. Our dogs are allowed on our couch. We like our
dogs close to us and they enjoy sitting on our laps.
Our dogs have scratched, and chewed our couch.
Our dogs are not allowed in our bedroom.
It's all part of having as many dogs as we do in our home.

3. The house will smell
People just with one dog, you can smell it.
I clean my carpets give the dogs baths, but they just have an odor.
You cannot get away from the "dog" smell.

4. Dog hair
Is there much to say there?

5. Having visitors
I try to keep the house nice but nothing changes the fact of the
4 things I've mentioned above.  I'd love my home to look
like my friends and families! It isn't gonna happen
with all my dogs.  I have yet to turn
anyone down to coming over to see my dogs
or from picking up their puppy in spite of it all.

6. Higher bills
Frenchies need air conditioning because they cannot handle the heat.
In the winter they need heat. Since my house has gas heat,
it helps to keep the heating costs down. The air
conditioning bills are bad.

7. You cannot just go and take a vacation
We have living beings that need to be cared for.
They need to be let out, fed, and kept clean.
I am very picky, and there just are not many people
I will have watch my dogs.
We have less freedom because of this,
but I love my life with my dogs.

8. We are not making loads of easy money
We live modestly because we are not loaded. My husband
works fulltime and I have the dogs.
We only own one car.  No credit cards.

9.Vet Bills
Yes, you will help keep up your vets lifestyle that he is a custom to,
but you will also be spending a lot of time there.
Packing up the dogs. Taking them there. Waiting. This breed of
dog needs artificial insemination and c-sections. Expensive.
I spend a lot of time at my vets. They know me well.

We are willing to give up a regular lifestyle
to accommodate our extended furry family.
